From 1858 to the start of the Civil War there were up to 2,500 soldiers stationed at Camp Floyd. With Camp followers, Fairfield was the third largest city in Utah at that time Camp Floyd had great effect on local, state and national history.

Camp Floyd State Park has free outdoor Civil War Era family activities. On Memorial and Labor days there is a Civil War era encampment in the park. Children dress in Civil War era clothing and are inducted into Army Platoons and activities. An operating stagecoach is at Camp Floyd from Noon to 2pm. For entrance into the Commissary, Stage Coach Inn, and SchoolhouseThere is a $9 family fee or $3 per person fee.
